| While interpreting and /or translating are anything but easy, my philosophy of doing my job is rather simple. A good Interpreter is the one who can become a very good conduit. My gift is that I can deliver the information and analysis to the individual or group, where they can hear the meaning and perceive the cultural nuances that although subtle can be very important to the meaning of the conversation. I am a gregarious person and I like people as well as books. I am a polyglot and multi-talented person. First, I am fluent in oral and written Arabic, Assyrian, Modern Greek and English. My academic background includes a Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from Rush University, Chicago, Illinois; a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Illinois at Chicago; and a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from De Paul University, Chicago, Illinois. Additionally, I hold a certificate of Medical Interpreter from Cross-Cultural Interpreting Services (CCIS), USA. Further, I have many years of experience working in the fields of education, Science, Medicine as a Teacher, Professional, Interpreter or Translator in the United States, Europe and The Middle East. To stay current in this age of information over-load, I belong to several different societies. I receive monthly, weekly and in one case a daily newsletter of updates and changes in my field. Also to keep my professional certificates, I must participate in on-going educational classes. In closing, I am a person who values and enjoy humanity, support well-intentioned ideas from different fields of knowledge. I enjoy working jobs that require spontaneity, physical and cultural world understanding, and zest for life. | |
