RUDY

Director with more than 30 years wide ranging experience in the international transport equipment leasing industry. Currently active in trading of transport related equipment in the Philippines (containers, chassis, tractor heads) and…shareholder of a successful fine dining restaurant and franchise operation in Manila, Philippines, established in 1995.

EXPERIENCE:

September 1993 – July 2003 : Director and owner of Global Assets
Investments Inc.

Global assets was a BVI based company trading, managing and leasing transport related equipment. The operational head office of the group is in Hong Kong. The group has three Manila based companies “Manila Global Assets Inc.” - “MGA Forwarding Services Inc” and “Sundiro Philippines Inc.”

The company traded annually for about us$ 6 million in container and other transport related assets. It managed a fleet of about 30,000 teu’s.

Specific responsibilities include:

@ Overall management of the group of companies together
with the two other partners David Potter and Alex Chung.

@ Marketing and customer contact (all levels)

@ Negotiating and vetting lease and sale agreements

@ Full staffing responsibility

@ Full administrative and operational responsibility

August 1992 - August 1993 with Container Providers Asia.
Managing Director.

Container Providers International (Asia) Ltd. was a container trading company set up by myself and two European Partners. The company was established to investigate and build on the booming container business in Asia and is involved in buying and selling of new and used containers, repositioning of idle inventory on behalf of factories, shipping lines and leasing companies. Via the already existing offices of the other partners a worldwide network of service offices is available.

Responsibilities:

@ Overall responsibility for establishment of the
company in Hong Kong and business development.

Although the partners decided to continue the activities of the company in Asia i left the company in order to be able to fully concentrate of the management and expansion of Global Assets.

1988 - 1992 with Textainer Equipment Management

March 1991 - July 1992: Regional Vice President Europe

Textainer Equipment Management has for several years now been one of the fastest growing container leasing companies in the world. The fleet grew from 30,000 teu's in 1987 to over 250,000 teu’s in 1992.

Reporting to the president of the company i had overall responsibility for the Europe region which covered all of Europe as well as North Africa and the Middle East.

Specific responsibilities:

@ Operate and supervise 4 area offices in Europe
(London, Rotterdam, Hamburg and Genoa)

@ Full marketing responsibility and supervision of
4 marketing directors, one in each area office.
Assist the marketing directors with lease negotiations
and worldwide marketing interaction.

@ Full operational responsibility and supervision of
one operations director in London office and 15 staff
spread over the area offices.

@ Responsibility for coordination of all regional
activities with the other regional head offices and
the corporate head office in San Francisco.

@ Responsibility for staff training and appraisals.

Major achievements include:

@ Successful integration of an additional fleet of
10,000 teu's into the companies customer base after
acquisition of a competitor. Most of the equipment
was in Europe or on its way to Europe. This was done
by means of quality lease outs.

@ Total reorganisation and decentralisation of the
regional set up which involved introduction of Tex
software in the area offices, re-assessment and
recruitment of staff. Staff training.

@ Responsible for the major contribution the Europe
region made towards employment of the Textainer's
new production ( around 70,000 teu's annually)
The Europe region was elected marketing team of
the year by the companies directors in January 1992.

@ Introduction of a new vice president America's to
the company.

@ Turn around in moral and performance of the Europe
team and improvement of relationships with several
major lessees : Nedlloyd Rotterdam, Zim Haifa,
Irisl Tehran, Gem London, P & Ocl London.

August 1988 - March 1991: Marketing Director Far East

Overall responsibility for marketing Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, Philippines and Korea with heavy responsibilities for marketing Textainer's new containers in Korea. Originally also responsible for re-organisation of Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand and recruitment of a marketing director for that area.

Major achievements include :

@ Finding employment for over 100,000 teu's of new
equipment coming out of the factories in Korea.

@ Establishing Textainer's business in China including
finalising a master lease with Cosco Beijing in 1989

@ Establishing and building up business with some of
the major lessors in other parts of Asia (Yang Ming
line from 700 to 4000 teu's)

@ Recruiting several key staff and agencies (Singapore,
Korea )


1983 - 1988 with Xtra Inc. Boston, Massachusetts.

Xtra was engaged in transportation equipment leasing services, primarily leasing on an operational basis of piggy-back and over the road trailers, railroad rolling stock, maritime containers and chassis.

January 1987 - March 1988: Based in Hong Kong as General
Manager with overall responsibility for Asia,
Australia and New Zealand. In 1987 this office
secured US$ 2.5 million worth of new long term
contracts.

August 1983 - December 1987: Based in Brentwood, UK as
General Manager (marketing) responsible for West
and East Europe, the Middle East, North Africa,
India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. I established several
new contacts with shipping lines in Eastern Europe,
Algiers, Tunis, Morocco. I opened up Xtra's presence
in India and established an agency and customer
contacts. In Eastern Europe alone i secured US$ 11
million worth of new long term and finance leases in
addition to the service lease contracts. Part of this
amount is represented by a contract for 200 x 40'
reefers with Deutsche Seerederei in Rostock.

1978 - 1983 with network Freight Agencies in Antwerp

Network was a major liner agency in Rotterdam and Belgium and represented amongst others Sealand and Eal. I opened up and developed the agency for Xtra leasing in Belgium and supervised Xtra's substantial container throughput in Antwerp as well as a fleet of 300 chassis.

1977 - 1978 with Ford Motor Company in Antwerp

My first job as an apprentice in Ford's production planning department.
